Junior Compliance Analyst (SDQ)
Position Overview
The Junior Compliance Analyst provides critical support for clients' onboarding, risk research, and regulatory reporting. Working across multiple brands, you will ensure that all transactions and client flows meet strict government and industry standards. This role is a perfect fit for a proactive professional with an interest in the Canadian financial landscape and the evolving world of blockchain technology.
Responsibilities
Transaction Reviews & Reporting: Conduct weekly reviews for reportable activities (EFTR, LCTR, STR, etc.) and file timely reports with FINTRAC and FinCEN.
Customer Onboarding: Manage the underwriting process by collecting documentation and performing background checks on merchants and Ultimate Beneficial Owners (UBOs).
Ongoing Monitoring: Execute sanction checks using Comply Advantage and perform forensic wallet checks to ensure continued compliance.
Investigations: Lead deep-dive investigations into suspected fraud, money laundering, and regulatory cases.
Administrative Support: Maintain client databases, handle ad-hoc compliance inquiries, and support senior team members in high-priority tasks.
Required Skills and Abilities
Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with AML/ATF regulations, KYC requirements, and risk mitigation strategies.
Detail-Oriented: Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in Jira, HubSpot, and specialized tools like Chainalysis, World Check, or Comply Advantage.
Analytical Mindset: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to maintain a professional, ethical attitude when handling confidential data.
Adaptability: A "startup" mindset—willing to learn quickly, work independently, and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Business, Risk Management, Law, or a related field.
1+ years of experience in compliance, audit, or risk management within the FinTech or Crypto industries.
Technical Asset: Knowledge of blockchain technology and forensic blockchain tools is a significant plus.
