Position Summary:

The Cybersecurity Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining Horatio's cyber security strategies and policies. This includes identifying potential security threats and vulnerabilities, implementing security controls and measures to protect against those threats, and monitoring the organization's networks and systems for security breaches or other issues. The ideal candidate for this role will have a combination of technical skills and knowledge, as well as strong problem-solving and communication abilities.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Developing and implementing security measures to protect against cyber threats, such as firewalls, antivirus software, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Monitoring networks and systems for security breaches, and responding to and mitigating any detected threats.
  • Conducting security assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities in systems and networks.
  • Analyzing and interpreting security logs and other data to identify patterns or trends that may indicate a security breach.
  • Investigating and analyzing security breaches to determine their cause and impact, and developing plans to prevent similar incidents in the future.
  • Collaborating with IT and other teams to design and implement secure network and system architectures.
  • Staying up-to-date on new and emerging cyber threats, and implementing appropriate safeguards.
  • Providing training and guidance to other team members on cyber security best practices and procedures.
  • Developing and maintaining policies and procedures related to cyber security.
  • Participating in incident response efforts, including coordinating with other teams and stakeholders to assess and mitigate the impact of a security breach.
 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Advanced English proficiency
  • Strong knowledge of network security, cybersecurity frameworks, and industry best practices.
  • Experience with security tools and technologies, such as firewalls, antivirus software, intrusion detection systems, and vulnerability scanners.
  • Familiarity with programming languages and operating systems, such as Linux, Windows, and Unix.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data to identify trends and potential security threats.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues and develop solutions.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively in a team environment.
  • A willingness to stay up-to-date on new and emerging technologies and security threats, and to continuously learn and develop new skills.

Education and Experience:

  • A bachelor's or specialized training in a related field, such as computer science, information systems, or cybersecurity.
  • Professional certifications as the CompTIA Security+ is desirable.
